B Corps Get a Break in Philadelphia
The city of Philadelphia just became the first in the nation to give a tax break to triple bottom line businesses certified as B Corporations. The bill, which was unanimously passed by the city council, is considered a pilot effort and the $4,000 tax credit will only be available to 25 businesses initially. But B Lab’s founders are optimistic that other cities will be following suit, and according to Bart Houlahan (co-founder), one of their goals with the win in Philadelphia is “to create a road map for municipalities showing why this can create terrific economic and social value.” Read more about this milestone here, here, or here.
