Our very own President & CEO Don Shaffer was given the MVP award at this year’s B Corporation Champions’ Retreat in recognition for his consistent and significant support of all B Lab initiatives. In honor of all of his work, Don was awarded a Roman helmet to symbolize how he’s gone to battle for B Lab!
Don was chosen as the B Corporation MVP for…
- Being a thought partner on B Lab strategy and initiating ways in which B Lab as an organization can collaborate with others to build the field. With Don’s help B Lab has formed partnerships with BALLE, SVN, and Investors’ Circle
- Being a member of the B Lab Standards Advisory Council since its inception
- Leading RSF to become the first financial services company to be a standards partner. RSF uses the B Impact Ratings System as part of our portfolio management
- Being a champion to help recruit B Corporations among RSF loan recipients & investees
- Leading two organizations to become B Corps – RSF Capital Management (our subsidiary for all lending activity to for-profit social enterprises) and Comet Skateboards
- Becoming a GIIRS Pioneer Fund (RSF Capital Management)
- Being a leader in the business community driving efforts to enact Benefit Corporation legislation in California
- And last but not least, bringing a quality of leadership that comes from a spirit of service aggressively seeking collaboration to advance the field of social finance
