By Public Transportation:

The PresidioGo is a free shuttle service for people who work or live in the Presidio. It runs clean-fuel buses between downtown San Francisco and the Presidio every 15-30 minutes each weekday. Downtown stops include Embarcadero BART and the Transbay Terminal. If you are interested, please contact the person you are meeting with at RSF for a temporary PresidioGo pass. You can view a complete schedule here.

The Presidio is also accessible by MUNI bus routes 41, 45 and 30 (from downtown SF/Market Street), and routes 28, 28L, 29 and 43 (from other points in the city). Only the 28L, 29 and 43 serve the Thoreau Center directly; others require a 5-10 minute walk from the nearby Lombard Street Gate to the Presidio. From the North Bay, several Golden Gate Transit buses also stop near the Lombard Gate.

There are several parking lots near our building as well as street parking.  After following directions above, if you continue past RSF’s building on O’Reilly Avenue, take the first left at Edie Road.  You can take an immediate right onto General Kennedy Avenue & turn right into a small metered parking lot (parking here is $1/hour).  Or continue on Edie past General Kennedy, and there is a large, metered parking lot on the left.  The street parking on O’Reilly & General Kennedy, along with all street parking in the Presidio, is metered.

The Presidio uses a ‘pay and display’ system, which is a little less intuitive than a coin/card operated meter. Their website’s parking page does a good job of explaining the system:
