Overview
The RSF Social Investment Fund provides a unique opportunity to invest in a diversified, direct loan fund comprised of over seventy five leading nonprofit organizations and for-profit social enterprises. It represents a great way to achieve substantial social and environmental “returns” while generating a financial return similar to that of a bank CD. Your investment in this fund allows RSF to provide mortgage loans, working capital lines of credit, and inventory financing exclusively to nonprofit and for-profit organizations dedicated to improving the well-being of society and the environment.
History
The RSF Social Investment Fund forms the core of our lending activity. Since 1984, RSF has made over $230 million in loans to social enterprises through this program. RSF found its niche providing mortgage loans to Waldorf Schools, serving as the primary financier to this community for twenty years. Lending within the emerging field of values-based, for-profit enterprises is a natural extension of RSF’s expertise and commitment to building the field of social finance.
How it works
Although the average investment in the RSF Social Investment Fund is $50,000, the investment minimum is just $1,000, making this fund accessible to a wide range of investors. When you invest in the RSF Social Investment Fund, we issue an investment note with a quarterly term. This note is automatically renewed at the end of each quarter, unless you notify us that you would like to redeem it.
The interest rate on your investment note varies quarterly, with an average of 2.45% over the last five years. RSF’s Social Investment Fund has repaid investors consistently for 27 years. You may elect to have your interest accrued to your investment or paid out to you on a quarterly basis. You may also choose to gift the accrued interest to your RSF Donor Advised Fund or one of the RSF Focus Area Funds, further increasing your social impact.
