Oakland School for the Arts is a college-preparatory arts high school founded in 2000. The school occupies space in the historic Fox Theater in uptown Oakland, CA, and is a venue for live student performances. The school is part of a national movement that recognizes the value of schools focusing on arts and the role that they can play in developing vibrant urban centers. The mission of the school is to provide students with intensive conservatory style training in the arts while maintaining a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum. www.oakarts.org
Playworks is a national non-profit that sends trained, full-time coaches to provide safe, healthy, inclusive play and physical activity for school children. Playworks currently serves more than 130,000 children in 300 low-income schools in 23 cities throughout the country every school day. RSF’s loan will be used to help bridge the gap between school payments, grant receipts, and expense payments, as well as to support the organization through its expansion. www.playworks.org
Located near Santa Cruz, CA, Camphill Communities California (CCC) is a supportive life-sharing community where volunteer caregivers and individuals with developmental disabilities live and work in a cooperative and rewarding environment. CCC offers everyone the opportunity to learn, grow, and live up to their highest aspirations. CCC is a model and inspiration for how to address the needs of the whole person: body, soul, and spirit. RSF has provided CCC with mortgage and construction loans to expand and improve their facilities. www.camphillca.org
