Internship Announcement: Summer Development Intern

About RSF Social Finance:  Located in the beautiful and historic Presidio of San Francisco, RSF Social Finance is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to using the tools of finance to bring about positive, real-world change. Our goal is not only to make capital available to innovative projects, it’s also to fundamentally transform the way the world works with money. RSF supports a broad range of non-profit and for-profit social enterprises in the fields of Food & Agriculture, Education & the Arts, and Ecological Stewardship. Primary services include our investing and lending programs, and philanthropic fund management services. Position Summary:  The Development Intern will work closely with members of multiple departments, including development, philanthropic services, and systems/operations to provide support with client interaction, special projects, and administrative duties. This position will offer experience working with an executive development team at a dynamic non-profit financial services organization.

Department: This position will be working with the Development Team, which is responsible for stewarding client relationships, meeting goals for incoming donations & investments, and acting as ambassadors for RSF.

 Start & End Date:  This position will last for 10-12 weeks over summer 2012.  Exact dates will be decided with the Intern.

Compensation: This is a paid position and the Intern will receive San Francisco minimum wage, with an anticipated time commitment of 20 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  The successful candidate will have:

  • Education and Experience: BA or BS degree, current or in progress. Previous non-profit experience strongly preferred.  Experience in development a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Must be able to effectively use standard business software such as Microsoft Office, database programs for data entry and management, and the internet for research and information-gathering.  Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Finance and Math Skills: General math skills required. Finance experience a plus.
  • Judgment and Independence: Must exercise good judgment to determine and address RSF’s needs, respond appropriately to changing circumstances and priorities, and effectively deal with clients.
  • English Language Communication Skills: Must have strong oral and written communication skills.  This includes the ability to send written correspondence on behalf of RSF, the ability to converse by telephone with potential and existing clients.
  • Attendance and Availability: Must be able to work at RSF’s offices in San Francisco during regular office hours, and must be available to attend bi-monthly Development Team meetings.
