Alex manages the day-to-day operations of the Philanthropic Services department, including due diligence, compliance, and client service. Previously, he has held positions in philanthropic operations and project management at The San Francisco Foundation and Tides. He received a BA in Comparative Literature from Cornell University and serves on the Board of Trustees of Telluride Association, an educational non-profit.

Anastasiya is responsible for assessing the credit worthiness of potential borrowers, as well as monitoring loan portfolio performance. Previously, Anastasiya was an Associate Relationship Manager at the Wells Fargo Corporate Banking Group in New York City. She received an MS in Development Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.

Anna is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the President/CEO, Chair of the Board, the Board of Trustees, and the Executive Assistant. Previously, Anna worked at an insurance brokerage. She received a BA in Political Economy of Industrial Societies, with a minor in English, from the University of California, Berkeley.

Carmen coordinates transaction logistics, including due diligence and contract preparation, to ensure the timely and accurate documentation of new loans. Prior to joining RSF, Carmen had 10 years of experience as a Documentation Funding Specialist with Fifth Third Bank in Grand Rapids, MI.  She has a BA from Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma.

Carrie Jones

Carrie is responsible for the management and maintenance of RSF’s Salesforce.com database including management of the requirements gathering process and solution design and implementation on the platform. As a certified Salesforce.com Administrator and Developer, she previously worked as a project manager implementing Salesforce.com for multiple non-profits across the country.

Manager, Client Development

Catherine manages the day-to-day operations of RSF’s Client Development program, which includes cultivating relationships with current and prospective clients.  Catherine has spent most of her career in philanthropy and has worked with both public charities and private foundations in her previous roles at the Tides Foundation and SunTrust Bank.  She received her BS in Business from Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Executive Assistant

Cres manages the Executive Office, serving as the President/CEO’s liaison to external constituencies and RSF’s senior managers, staff, and the Board of Trustees. Before joining RSF, Cres managed several non-profit membership associations, primarily in financial services. She serves on two non-profit boards of directors and has a BS in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.

Dan Dao

Dan is responsible for evaluating and monitoring the risk of existing and potential borrowers in the loan portfolio. Prior to RSF, Dan was an expatriate in the United Kingdom where he worked as risk management professional on a commodities trade floor. He has a BA in Finance and Accounting, with a minor in International Studies from the University of Houston, and is a CFA charterholder.

Dave Shong

Dave is responsible for overseeing all legal and documentation matters in the origination, modification and renewal of loans within the Social Enterprise Lending portfolio. Previously, Dave worked in the real estate group of major law firms in New York and Palo Alto.  He received a J.D. from the Boston University School of Law and a BA, cum laude, from Eastern Michigan University.  Dave is admitted to practice law in California and New York.

Don has served as President & CEO of RSF Social Finance since 2007. He grew up in central New Jersey, and comes from a long ancestry of Quaker farmers and small business people in and around Philadelphia. Don lives in Berkeley, California with his wife Jennifer and their two children, Sabine and Samuel.  He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in American History.

Don has been a social entrepreneur for many years, growing a for-profit education business, a software company, and a sporting goods manufacturer, in addition to a non-profit, the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies.

As leaders in social finance, Don and the team at RSF seek to transform the way the world works with money. In a world where our financial system can be described as complex, opaque, and anonymous, based on short-term outcomes, RSF is constantly asking the question, “How can we model financial transactions that are direct, transparent, and personal, based on long-term relationships?” Under Don’s leadership, RSF’s total assets have grown 40% in the past three years, to over $160 million.

Ellie is responsible for administrative and program support including grants and gifts processing, reporting, compliance and client services. Previously, Ellie served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in New Mexico. She received a BAS in Strategic Communication and a BA in Spanish Language and Culture from The Ohio State University.

Emily is responsible for supervising the accounting team. Previously, Emily was office manager and accountant for a private firm in Idaho. She received her MS in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

Gary Schick

Chief Financial Officer

Gary Schick has served as the Chief Financial Officer of RSF Social Finance since 2004 and currently manages all financial and mission related investing activities. During his tenure at RSF, he has also managed – and continues to oversee – the organization’s legal, accounting, operations, systems, and administration functions.

Prior to joining RSF, Gary served as Chief Financial Officer at several financial service organizations including CompuFund, Midwest Pacific Financial, and Frank Howard Allen Realtors. He has over twenty years of financial, management, and operational experience with firms large and small, from startups to multi-company organizations with up to 150 employees and $800 million in transaction volume. Gary earned a BS in Business Administration, with an emphasis in accounting and finance, from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a California CPA and Real Estate Broker. He lives in Healdsburg with his wife, Mary.

Staff Accountant

Ghion provides accounting support to RSF and is responsible for account reconciliations, monthly closings, and other analysis. Previously, Ghion worked as a program director and accountant for different nonprofit and community based organizations in Oakland. He received a BSc in Accounting and a BA in Economics from San Francisco State University.

Jenn manages a broad scope of human resources matters, including hiring, new staff on-boarding, payroll and benefits administration, workplace safety, and employee policies. Since 2004, Jenn has honed her skills as an HR practitioner and consultant. She received SPHR certification in 2010. Jenn has a BA from Georgetown University.

Joe manages the RSF Mezzanine Fund, which provides subordinated debt and equity to small, growth-stage socially responsible companies.  Previously, Joe was a Vice President with GE Capital’s Merchant Banking Group.  He received his MBA from the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management in Claremont, California.

Senior Director, Organizational Culture

John guides the organizational culture at RSF. The purpose of organizational culture is to tend to the reflective capacities of RSF, including how we articulate and practice our values in internal relationships and with our clients, how we learn as an organization, and how we manifest those values and practices through our public voice.

John has worked with over 100 non-profits over the last several years in the areas of capacity building and culture change. He has led many workshops, lectured, and written about aspects of money and governance for non-profits. John has founded two non-profits, served as a trustee on several (including Yggdrasil Land Foundation), and worked as the administrator at an independent school before joining RSF. He has written extensively on many aspects of charitable  organizations, associative economics,  life as an active member of a 29 year old biodynamic CSA, and on the topics of money and philanthropy, including The Genius of MoneyEssays and Interviews Reimagining the Financial World. He lives in San Francisco.

Kate is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships with current borrowers and maintaining a robust pipeline of prospective borrowers. Kate works specifically with social entrepreneurs in the sustainable food & agriculture sector. Previously Kate worked in economic development on the western slope of Colorado. Kate received her MBA from Colorado State University in their Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise program.

Chief Operating Officer

Katrina oversees organizational and staff development, human resources, and facilities at RSF. She also facilitates staff meetings and retreats that strengthen and support RSF’s innovative organizational culture. Previously, Katrina held positions with the UCSD Ethnic Studies Department, UCSD Food Cooperative, and the Environmental Health Coalition. She received a BA in Urban Studies & Planning from UC San Diego and a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Kelley is responsible for providing philanthropic advisory services, while managing and directing all components of the Philanthropic Services Program. Previously, she served as the Vice President of the board of the Haight Ashbury Food Program and acted as coordinator for the Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition. She graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in anthropology.

Mark is responsible for the relationship management of investors in RSF’s $100 million Social Investment Fund, while also assisting with business development and philanthropic services. Previously he worked in finance in the public relations and legal sectors, and started his business career in book publishing. Mark has an MA in English and Writing from Hollins University.

Previously, Megan worked in development and communications at an HIV/AIDS research organization in Los Angeles. Previously, Meredith spent two years with AmeriCorps working for a music education non-profit and the American Red Cross. Mike is the primary point person for relationships with existing and prospective borrowers in the field of Ecological Stewardship. He works with social enterprises to assess potential fit with RSF’s lending programs, and to evaluate new and renewing loan opportunities based on social and financial criteria. Previously, Mike served as the Asia Regional Manager for Grameen Foundation’s capital markets team focusing on providing financing and financial advisory services to microfinance institutions and other businesses focused on alleviating poverty. He received an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Mike will be responsible for account management and new business development with food brands that demonstrate strong social benefit and organizations that provide important services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Mike comes to RSF with over 3 decades of experience in commercial lending. A native San Franciscan, Mike now lives in San Carlos, California with his wife Paula and daughter Devon. Mike attended UC Berkeley and San Francisco State University and has degrees in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Education. He is also a founding partner of Starry Night Winery in Sonoma County.

Rebecca is responsible for all of RSF’s IT systems including implementing new technology, user adoption of new systems, and IT security.  She has been working in IT for over 10 years, focusing on supporting non-profits’ IT infrastructure and is passionate about continually finding ways to use technology to work more efficiently in order to be more responsive to client’s needs. She received her BA in Studio Art from Saint Olaf College.

Previously, he worked for an asset-building coalition as an AmeriCorps VISTA as well as a licensed representative for Fidelity Investments. Previously, Steven was a Research Analyst at Wells Fargo with project management background in commercial real estate. Tammy Childers

Tammy is responsible for managing funding, repayment, and monitoring for RSF’s loan programs. Previously, Tammy worked in a grassroots advocacy firm in Nebraska and served as Executive Assistant to the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Network (NEON), the trade association for microenterprise programs in Nebraska. Later, she helped qualify a program as a CDFI Fund of the U.S. Department of Treasury and was elected to the Executive Committee of NEON. She holds a BA in English from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Ted leads RSF’s $75 million Social Enterprise Lending program including business development and portfolio management. Prior to RSF, Ted worked as the Business Manager for a startup school and startup bamboo company in Indonesia.  He spent the previous decade in small business finance providing working capital and equipment loans to growing companies in California. He earned a BA in Economics from Tufts University.

Tim is responsible for overseeing the Legal & Compliance department and also handles select transactional matters for the Social Enterprise Lending program and the RSF Mezzanine Fund.  Previously, Tim worked in the commercial finance and investment management departments of major law firms in New York and San Francisco.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Michigan Law School and his BA, magna cum laude, from Bates College.  Tim is admitted to practice law in California and New York.
