The RSF Seed Fund provides small gifts (between $500 and $5,000) to seed new initiatives.
Seed Fund grantees offer innovative solutions to furthering the field of social finance, or address issues in one of our three focus areas (Food & Agriculture, Education & the Arts, and Ecological Stewardship).
This small but impactful fund allows us to review proposals from any eligible candidate, giving new and potentially transformational projects an avenue to become known to us and our community.
The fund is supported annually by unrestricted gifts to RSF rather than from an endowment. Unlike most of the other funds at RSF, the money for this fund comes from small donations. While RSF has not engaged in active fundraising for the Seed Fund, we have been able to make up to $15,000 in grants annually thanks to contributions from RSF’s donor community. The fund is advised by a rotating group of staff members who review the proposals and then decide which projects will receive grants. Staff members enjoy a chance to participate in the grantmaking process and their diverse professional backgrounds and expertise ensure that we have a fresh perspective in each grantmaking cycle.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2014 grant cycle. If you know of relevant non-profits who are a fit for the program, please encourage them to apply here. Applications will be accepted until March 15th.
Your gift to the RSF Seed Fund can help germinate the next generation of restorative projects. If you would like to contribute to the RSF Seed Fund, please visit the donations section of our website.
